Eric Charnofsky
Eric Charnofsky's classical music career has involved several aspects of performance, scholarship, administration and composition. Mr. Charnofsky holds a Masters degree in collaborative piano from the Juilliard School, and also holds degrees in solo piano performance and composition from California State University, Northridge. As a collaborative pianist, he has performed throughout North America with members of major American orchestras, and as an orchestral keyboardist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Cleveland Orchestra, among others.
Originally from Los Angeles, Mr. Charnofsky has taught music history, music theory, and collaborative piano at the collegiate level in Cleveland, where he has also been a classical radio announcer. He served as church choir director in Cleveland's University Circle, pre-concert lecturer for the Cleveland Orchestra, Associate Faculty member at the Music Academy of the West, rehearsal pianist for Lyric Opera Cleveland, convention accompanist for the National Flute Association, and as music director and pianist for musical theater productions in Los Angeles. He is featured on recordings on the Capstone, Albany, and Crystal labels.
Mr. Charnofsky has served on boards for the Cleveland Chamber Music Society and Chamber Music Society of Ohio, and is Assistant Director for the annual She Scores festival. He has also narrated with the Cleveland Orchestra and other ensembles. Mr. Charnofsky’s compositions have been performed in major U.S. cities. Among the performing groups that have commissioned his original works are Pacific Serenades, the Chamber Music Society of Ohio, and the Cleveland Chamber Collective.
